The Baby Altar
If you have baby on the brain, and if you have baby on your heart, it might be the right time for you to set up a baby altar. The color should be green, for fertility. Buy some green baby linens, green candles, and a few baby items. Make the big step of buying a baby item. Don't ever feel as if you somehow don't have the "right" to do so because you are not yet pregnant. You might also include images of fertility or mothering goddesses, such as the Venus of Willendorf, Isis, and Kwan Yin.
Begin telling yourself "I am a mother." No matter what, you ARE a mother, even if it's the mother of an as-yet-unborn child. Believe that. Get yourself in that state of mind, because the mind is powerful. Tell your body, "You are beautiful and you will hold a child. Whether in your womb or in your arms, you will hold this child. You have the body of a mother." Meditate on and pray for your womb, your partner's sperm, your home, your heart, and for oppenness to the Lord's gifs.
Your altar should have a framed picture of you and your partner because through this all, you two need to focus on your own relationship. Don't get lost in the trials of conceiving. Make it a joyous occasion, and NOT a chore.
Herbs that represent fertility include basil, hazel, poppy, cucumber, apple, pomegranate, acorns, myrtle, and all nuts. Put a bag of hazel nuts under your bed, but make sure they are without chemicals. Your partner should carry mandrake root to ensure his own fertility. You can put these herbs on your altar as well, in a sachet to be placed in your purse or under your pillow, or to hang over your bed.
Blessings to you and your partner.
